My First Blog

Introduction

Hi! Welcome to my first blog on the site. Let me tell you a bit about this place. This site will be the first site I publish that isn’t in WordPress or Shopify. Perviously to this, I had made two websites created with WordPress, utilizing Divi for one and Elementor for the other.

This website is built on the Astro framework. I have been using it to learn a new framework from scratch without any external course or lecture. I am doing this strictly by documentation and getting used to being more self-sufficient. Astro’s framework has a server-first API design that is more content focused. It enables you to use traditional HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while still letting you add other external sources like Tailwind, React, and Svelte.

These blog pages or posts are written and supported in markdown, MDX, and as of the last update, Markdoc from Stripe. It is supposed to be 3x faster than MDX, but currently Markdoc is in an experimental phase. I will probably do a test on this in the next few days.

I have two businesses I ultimately want to run, but I unsure if I should run them under the same name or as one. Those businesses would be for freelance web development and the other as an indie game studio. As of the moment, I want to work in the industry for a few years and grow with a great team.

Goals

I built this site to show my work and document my projects as I grow and complete them. The home page is (at least at the moment) my resume and links to areas I want to be a part of.

You can expect to see this site built in 3 different directions in conjunction with their related blogs.

The goal is to document my work and progress while adding how-to-content on functions and features that I have learned along the way. I want this to be as helpful and useful to as many people as possible. I believe in the fact, that I learned so much from free and open knowledge (paid as well) that I should also produce what I learned to help the next person to grow as I did. In time I will add sections to the bottom of my posts where perhaps more experienced developers can propose or correct my knowledge gaps and understandings so that the end user will benefit the most.

So at this time, the site is not finished and may still be under construction for a few weeks. I work full-time as a retail operations manager and spend my free time learning and building as much as possible. So time is stretched thin at the moment. But I don’t stop to rest as much as I should, and I will keep hammering away at this along with my other projects till I get it done. Hopefully you will enjoy the future content. Thank you for stopping by!
